[1000mp] noise increase in GEN mode

Hi Pete,
  On my "vintage" regular MP, the same thing happens , but on all bands
so far aas I remember.
  As soon as you go "low" out of the band that happens, but doesn't seem to 
be the
case if you go "up" out of the band.
I noticed this for a long time.
