[1000mp] noise increase in GEN mode

On the MP series ... this occurs due to the rig switching from
the TUNED to FLAT mode on the front end. When you dropped
below 3500, it switches.  I'd suspect the Mk5 may do the same.

You could confirm this by manually switching from TUNED to
FLAT with the rig on 3501 ?
