[1000mp] FT1000MP Key Clicks on first element DO Matter

I might add one other enticing little item to the discussion about MP
clicks. This is a purely selfish benefit of reducing clicks. Read on.
I like to use the MON function to listen to my own sidetone when sending CW.
My QSK operation using the MON feature was somewhat degraded using narrow IF
filter settings (250, and to some extent even 500) because the clicks became
very distracting. I found that turning on the EDSP helped some, but I
didn't always like what the EDSP did to the other person's signal to which I
was listening.
But after doing the W8JI mod, the MON signal is noticeably cleaner, and I
enjoy listening to my own signal more. I guess the clicks may have been
making the narrow filters ring. So that's a bonus benefit for me, whether
or not I have become a cleaner neighbor to other hams. :)
If only I could get rid of the "first-dit" click, then I'd be happy, for my
own monitoring, and for the other guys who have to hear me.
73,
Tom / W7GT
