clicky, and the second one is nice. An "S" has a clicky dit, followed by
two nice dits. You get the
picture. But I haven't figured out why. I use an external keyer, and
operate the MP in QSK break-in mode.
Has anybody else run into this? Or has anybody else done the mod and
carefully measured the Tx waveforms to either confirm or deny what I
ended up with?"

I've never noticed that on my MP with the W8JI click mod. Except for
contests, I use a paddle with the MP's internal keyer turned on and BK-IN
turned off. I never tried it in the QSK mode.
I've asked strong stations about my signal during contests while I'm
using a computer to key the rig (with the MP's internal keyer turned off,
which is the same as using an external keyer), but they've all said they
cannot detect any clicks.
Additionally, I always use the MP's TX GND jack to key my amplifier (an
Alpha 76CA).
You might try playing with the time delay in menu item 7-4 (break-in time
delay) which defaults to 5 msec. Although I never use QSK, I have mine
set to the max of 30 msec.
I would think the best guy to answer your question is Tom, W8JI.
