Gus,
>From your description, it isn't clear that you are pressing the VRF button
(on the jog/shuttle ring). It almost sounds like you're trying to press the
VRF LED, and troubleshooting the mechanical parts of it. That isn't a
switch. The VRF button is on the upper left side of the jog/shuttle ring
around the main tuning knob, right under the green RX LED. The VRF LED is
always flush with the face of the front panel. If I'm wrong, and you're
pressing the right button, make sure the radio is not set to a higher freq.

While you're there. ask them to send you a copy of the Mark V Technical
Overview manual. It's free, and full of stuff to answer questions you'll
have as you read thru the owner's manual.
