Hi Bill,
Did you mean 2 contact (mono) "phone" instead of "phono"?  The
FT1000MP rear key jack fits a stereo phone plug and I _assume_ the MkV
is similiar.

I use a Y connector with mine for exactly the same reasons.  I use
TRLog.
