Barry,

Check out the MP schematic diagrams.  On the RF Unit, relay RL1001 
normally connects the receive antenna line (RX RF), coming from the T/R 
relay (RL6016 on the LPF Unit), directly to the MP's receiver.

When RL1001 is actuated by pressing the RX ANT button, it breaks the RX 
RF line and routes it "out" the RX OUT jack and "in" the RX IN jack. 
You could connect bandpass filters, an external receiver, a receive-only 
antenna, a VHF receiving converter, or any other appropriate accessory 
to one, or both, of these jacks.
