Hi Dirk,

The relay in the MP will handle the unmodified SB-220 OK. If you're afraid
you should use a switching FET like IRF-840 between the rig and the amp. It
costs you something like 3 euro and will last forever. If you go this way,
you can even switch it via the DATA.
