Dirk,
I connected my acom 1000 in both ways :
using the band data connector for QSK operation and using the TX gnd with
switch set to the 'on' position, both worked fine.
Of what I've been reading, the band data connection should improve the key
time ...
I use it now for the moment with the switch set in the 'off' position.
