I like the filter switching on the MP, but I have to admit I very rarely use
all the available filters. I flip back and forth from 500 to 250 once in a
while on CW, but that's about it. So the new filter scheme doesn't bother me
all that much. I like having the extra power -- have never been a QRO guy,
but I like having that extra little bit. Funny thing -- go look at some of
the old tube rigs before solid state came in; a lot of them said "380-450W
input", which of course translates to well over 100W output. We all got used
to having 100W output once the transistorized finals came into vogue. Time
to move back up!
The other features - IDBT, VRF, APF are nice, but I also probably won't use
them a lot. The bigger, non-concentric knobs are nice though. I am a little
concerned with the noise and vibration in the fans. I think I can hear it on
phone, although it's probably not as noticeable on the air as it is in my
headphones.
73,
Brian

I am thinking about selling my MP1000 for a MarkV is it worth changing?
