I tried to tune my FT-1000MP for 160 meters info my 80 Meter inverted-L.
The tuner would not provide a good match. I tried this for only a very short
amount of time, less then a minute. After giving up I switch onto a dummy
load to find that my radio would only put out around 15 watts within the 160
Meter Ham band. I noticed it would provide a full 100 watts between 1.8 and
1.5 MHz.and all other ham bands. By chance I decided to try switching the
radio programming. Going into the menu I changed the setting 9.9 from the
number 15 to GEN. I left the menu and found that the radio would now provide
the full 100 watts within the 160 Meter Ham band. Retesting my radio by
changing the 9.9 setting back to the number 15 I found again the radio would
only provide 15 watts.

The 9-9 menusetting on my Mk V showed several alternatives. Perhaps you had
one with Japan setting originally ?
