[1000mp] MP (not so) Fast AGC Recovery

I've always thought that the MP's Fast AGC recovery time was a bit slow and 
the MP receiver can miss the first few elements of a weak cw signal when 
recovering from a static burst, or even its own transmit break-in in a 
contest when a weak station comes back quickly.

During the contest yesterday, I was nagged by the feeling that the MP AGC 
recovers too slowly during cw break-in.  Does anyone share this impression?

I did a little experiment running the MP audio into a soundcard and 
capturing the fast AGC recovery. The results can be seen at 
http://www.albany.net/~bg/Yaesu/mpagc.htm - The MP fast AGC recovery 
appeared to take 170msec.  I also captured the recovery of a Ten-Tec Corsair 
for comparison, but I believe the Corsair circuitry dispenses with any time 
constant elements in its release - it measured a scant 10 msec.
