Stu, I don't think this is reason for panic.  Bob's are MPs, and he's had a 
variety of problems including (I think) lightning hits.  My radio is a late 
production Mk 5 and I sent it back because it developed a roughness in the 
CW note.  Not exactly a common problem.  There were a rash of problems with 
the first production units, but I think that's behind us now...
