Dear Thomas, et. al.:
Having only a 2.8 Khz filter in the subreceiver and trying to tune a big
CW pile up like Ducie Island to find the station working the DX is a
challenge. Having a 500 Hz filter truly helps. I purposely put the
mechanical filter in my FT-1000MP subreceiver so I actually hear about 600
Hz bandwidth.
I typically use a 400 Hz INRAD filter for CW in the main receiver, with
option to put a 250 Hz filter in the 2nd IF at 8.215 Mhz.
