My personal experience with Yaesu has been very good. They beat their time
estimate, charged only a few dollars for simple parts and had about an hour
labor, which I thought was fair on a 1000MP, and sent the radio back to me.
You sure can't get a diagnosis on your car for $35.

On my FT101ZD, they sold me the entire preamp for about $55. It quit
working during a lightning storm and I suspect it simply needed a FET, but I
thought the price for the module was fair and it took me about 15 minutes to
install it. Fixed that one, too.

Someone had asked about Yaesu factory repair efficiency on the west coast.
I have an FT 107m that is having trouble in the output . . the finals . .
the final tuning . . I don't know, but no gas in the tank, so to speak. I
want to donate it to the school amateur radio club. So I called Yaesu
today.

I was told the turn around is 6 to 8 weeks, and the price was $70 an hour
plus parts and shipping. If you want an estimate, they will give you an
estimate for $35 . . plus shipping to return it to you if you decide you
don't want to pay their price.
