[1000mp] Noticed anomalies on MK V.

New to the list and have moved from an MP to a MK V and notice the following
issues.

After tuning the ATU in CW mode the meter properly displays <1.2:1. When I
move to SSB and modulate the rig the SWR deflects well above 1.6 : 1. My
cousin has the same rig with similar readings.

Noise Blanker seems less than useless compared to my old MP

Fan powers up almost as soon as one starts transmitting and it is not only
noisy, it vibrates the rig.

Loss of 6 kHz RX filter in SSB mode. Looks like this may be able to be
brought back with a workaround in the 5.x menu items but I have not played
yet. Filter flexibility seems a major step backwards

On a positive note the receiver DSP certainly has far better QRM fighting
ability than the MP. Very satisfied except for the 2 steps back listed
above.

|I went down and tried to reverify what I said about the MkV tuning
|itself. It
|doesn't behave the way it was described to me by Yaesu.
|
|When I'm in a band in which I have stored tunes and the SWR is
|below 3:1 the rig
|will not automatically tune itself. When I changed to band in
|which I didn't
|have stored tunes and with a SWR significantly higher than 3:1 the
|rig tuned
|itself AND remembered the tune when I switch away from the band
|and come back
|and even after turning the rig off. If I press and hold the tune
|on the band
|with high SWR, after the rig has self tune to about 1.3:1, the rig
|won't tune
|and displays High SWR, but if I transmit it shows an SWR of about
|1.3:1. ???
|
| I have no idea what is going on with the self tuning routine.
