[Yaesu] Level of radio and SSB performance

You get some RF envelope control with a fast ALC holding back the peaks 
without causing the splatter of clipping without post clipping filtering.

I'd look at the RF envelope with a scope and see which rigs you have on 
hand produce a greater averaage power while keeping the peak power to 
the peak power rating of the output stages.

One of the variables on the 857D standard microphone is there is a 
switch on the back to change the LF rolloff frequency by changing the 
value of a coupling capacitor. And the DSP in the 857D allows for 
adjusting the transmit audio response to emphasize certain frequencies 
if they get more punch from your voice.
