Does it sound like he also replaced the coil ("reel" or "bobine") and that is what's getting hot? Is it possible the new coil's wire is too small? I don't have a FL2100B, so I'm not as well informed on the possibilities.

Your new capacitors sound like they are general purpose ceramics and
aren't big enough to carry the RF current in the PA cathode and are very
temperature sensitive. You need ceramic with temperature characteristic
NPO and with a 3/4" or larger diameter with heavy wire leads to carry
several amps of RF current.
