It’s been suggested to me that: "It should be possible to provide the functionality you want. The connection needs to be just beyond the first mixer and before the roofing filters. This is the 40.455 MHz first IF, so your SDR will need to cover that frequency."
I have the full schematic. Multiple pages came with the unit. The page marked “Main Unit 1000-1999” shows a clearly marked “1st Mixer” and a little below that ”15k R.FIL” and off to the right a “6k R.Fil” and a "3k R.Fil”. But I don’t see any mention of 1st IF. I see many “Test Points” identified by numbers only. I.E. "TPnnnn"
I see a TP1043 with a label "1stLO" (which I’m guessing is Local Oscillator). Further, it’s difficult to tell how the signal is routed.
My background is several Heathkits from various time periods, from mid ‘60s up to around 1989 when I built one of their last kits, a 45 inch rear projection TV. They all worked fine. So I can read schematics, but this schematic is a little tough for me. I was a Ham back then, but let it drop from mid 80’s up till a couple months ago. So I just got my General call back and bought this new Yaesu.
The price point was reachable for me, and I didn’t see much difference between the FTDX-1200 and the FTDX-3000, or at least I didn’t see much difference until I discovered the new thing called a Panadapter!!

I want one, but it seems I have the wrong model because there’s no IF out.
I could try searching the web for a service manual. they might give me actual labels for those test points. One of them has to be the first IF.
But I thought I’d try to reach the techs at Yaesu first. They might be able to give me full instructions. Who knows? It never hurts to ask, right?
How about it? Are there any Yaesu techs on this forum?
Thanks in advance!
