I am doing the Happy Dance.
Anyone who has ever programmed radio memories by hand knows how tedious this
function is. Whenever possible, using a computer, software, and a cable is
certainly easier. Some software is also written to make setting and
controlling various radio settings also possible.
The FTdx5000 is no different. There are so many settings to learn and use
as well as the memories.
Anyone who has used the RT-Systems software knows how smooth and integrated
this software is. It even allows you to share memories across platforms,
like the ICOM T-81 memories can be shared with the Yaesu VX-7R, and it knows
to keep the 6m memories, but drop the 23cm memories. And of course, it
integrates with ARRL's Travel Plus.
RT-System's RADIO CABLES are known to work every time. No more using
adapters that quit working the next time you get a Windows Update. Not the
cheapest, but they work even after an update.
I just discovered that RT-Systems is making a program for the FTdx5000. And
I just placed an order. I am confident that it will be everything the other
programs I have from them is. And should I find a flaw, their support is
second to none.
If you have a FTdx5000, or any Yaesu Radio (or nearly any radio at all), you
could do worse than RT-Systems software and cables. No affiliation, just a
happy user who appreciates quality products.
