On mods.dk in the FT1000MPV forum there are a couple threads on dimming
displays. You can download one every 4 days by signing up, to get them
faster you have to pay.

There is discussion at:
www.eham.net/ehamforum/smf/index.php/topic,98887.0.html

There are many hits on google:
www.google.com/search?as_q=Yaesu+ft1000+display+dimming&as_epq=&as_oq=&as_eq=&as_nlo=&as_nhi=&lr=&cr=&as_qdr=all&as_sitesearch=&as_occt=any&safe=images&as_filetype=&as_rights=&gws_rd=ssl

There are some menu options to adjust the display, but the main problem
appears to be the fluorescent display and its inverter. I may be fixable
or replaced by LEDs.
