Have a FT-890 that is malfunctioning.  Problem==
Frequency display blinks on and off.
at same time when freq display blinks on, the s-meter goes from zero to 
max deflection.  When displays blinks off the meter returns to zero.
Display blinks at a rate of approx 40-45 times per minute.
Happens on all bands.
also no receive audio, but beeper works when pressing various buttons on 
transceiver.

So does anyone have any ideas of what may have gone astray in the FT890????

If not, is there anyone that knows a reliable place to send the rig for 
repair???????
I hate to junk a great transceiver for what may be a 10 cent part.

Transceiver has been used for Boy Scout campouts, displays and summer 
camp radio merit badge classes.
