[Yaesu] need some info about a FR-101D

No, I just took another look at my notes and see I made a mistake. Let me try that last paragraph again.
When I spin the tuning dial fully CW, I hit a mechanical stop with the drum sitting past that last mark after 0. The circular dial indicated zero but your stop may be slightly different. Back up the circular dial to its nearest 50 mark, and the drum's last mark after 0 should be under the cursor. Similarly, when I spin the tuning dial fully CCW I hit a stop with the drum sitting past that last mark after 500 and the circle dial was on 86 (yours may be slightly different). Back up the circular dial to the nearest 50 mark from there and the drum's drum's last mark after 500 should be right under the cursor. In other words, those last marks are 50 KC from the last numbered drum marks.
Sorry for the confusion.

I have an FL-101. Looking at the dial drum lefthand side the numbers are white and run 0 to 500. Actually, notice there is an additional mark on the drum at both ends of travel (after 0 and after 500). I'm going to reference these marks. The stationary horizontal line I will call the cursor.
When the tuning is cranked fully CW or CCW the cursor is actually over none of the drum marks so I will describe a tuning position where drum and cursor marks do line up.
When I spin the tuning dial fully CW, I hit a mechanical stop with the drum sitting past that last mark after 0. Back up the circular dial to its nearest 0 and the drum's last mark after 0 should be under the cursor. Similarly, when I spin the tuning dial fully CCW I hit a stop with the drum sitting past that last mark after 500. Back up the circular dial to the nearest zero from there and the drum's drum's last mark after 500 should be right under the cursor.
Hope that helps.

my fl-101 took a hit when it was shipped to me. the dial drum got knocked out
of its bracket. straightened the shaft and re mounted. works fine. do you have a
fl-101 or a ft-101 with the analogue dial. I need to know what markings on the
dial drum line up with the cross line on the dial face when the vfo is turned
fully clockwise and fully counter clockwise. so I can rough the dial cylinder
into the drive gear at the correct spot.
thanks

I've been inside a number of meters and that part won't hold any worries for me.
I'm just waiting for it to rise to the top of my list of stuff to do. It'll get
done when I find that I really miss having the lamp. Or maybe that's just my
excuse for being a bit lazy! :-)

the meter, works very nice.

I have an FR-101 and my light is also burnt out. It appears the lamp is internal
to the meter. Above the two larger threaded posts on the backside of the meter
are two small screws with small lugs, and wires leading to them. I haven't
gotten around to doing anything about mine since it seems the whole meter has to
be removed to fix the lamp. If I do get to it, I think an LED replacement will
be a wise alternative.

Just finished reworking a fr-101d, works fine. how is the meter lit? have a
internal bulb? I rigged a white led above the meter works ,but would like to do
it correctly.
Where does the external lite, if thats how the meter was lighted, besides ground,
get its 14 volt feed. where id the connection point?
The radio had no light on the meter when I got it,manual shows only the # for
a bulb.
thanks for any help on this
