Hmm, seems something else is at play here.  I have on that’s only three 
weeks old, bought from Universal Radio, no problem whatsoever, drop it in 
and it goes red, once charged it goes green.

Are your batteries OEM or aftermarket, NiMH or NiCD or Lithium?  I think the 
370 is just a NiCD/MH charger.  Some of the other aftermarket charges can do 
both with a switch on the bottom.  I haven't even flipped the one I have 
over to look at it because I just have NiMH packs.

I bought both through HRO in Oakland in the past two weeks, it seems Yaesu
is just making junk now, unless, of course, Yaesu is cranking out the crap
chinese clones like you mentioned.
