[Yaesu] Missed a zero ! SRI

Anybody have any idea why an MD-100 A8X mic which had been used with an 
FT-950, would, when plugged into an FT-1000MP,  reduce power and/or 
audio output to the point where the station was uncopyable ? The, when 
the Heil mic the op had been using before buying the MD-100, was plugged 
in, the rig returned to normal operating condx after about 60 seconds.
