Some are mil. surplus.   Yes it is a gamble but if one is only a few dollars
it is an acceptable risk.

The fact that the current measuring method is employed by broadcasters
recommends it.  There is no need for a ham to resort to an inferior method
because he is a ham.
If only more hams strove to emulate professionals in the radio art.   Minor
point:  often current measuring at the medium wave broadcast antenna is done
with a toroidal transformer that produces a voltage proportional to the
current through the center of the toroid.   This v. is delivered to the tx
shack via coax (usually 3/8 or 1/2 inch hardline) to a calibrated v. meter.
