[Yaesu] FT-980 battery back up problem

Wires broken more than one place (the end)? backwards polarity? Start
tracing with the voltmeter with power of to see that power is getting
through the wires. New AA batteries should do 1.54 volts each, so you
should see 3.08 volts, not short of 3 volts.
