Yup, you're absolutely right Rob.  Unfortunately this was also the first thing I thought about.  The menu preset is set to 100w.thanks anyway

get out the manual and look in the menu listing.  there is probably something set in memory limiting your SSB power to 50 w.  The new rigs have different power limits for tune up and/or driving some of the high gain amps.  Maybe if you try a factory reset and then check the power output it will be the rig's full limit.
