[Yaesu] FT 1000 mp autotuner problems

I wrote about this a while back and have been unable to determine the problem. I did try the suggestion of resetting the radio including a global reset and trying different antennas. The tuner will simply not initiate or tune. The meter indicates a high swr at all times and shows more than full transmit when keyed. Any suggestions ? Looks like I'll be packing it up for Yaesu to examine.
