[Yaesu] Low UHF receive on FT100D

I have a FT100D I bought used recently (serial number range 1I) and the UHF receive seems low on it.  It hears the local repeaters fine, but doesn't hear the FM satellites in Mode J like it should. On an FO29 pass it also seemed pretty low on SSB, not hearing signals as loud as they should be.  2 meters seems just fine.   I did go into the alignment menu and increase menu item F06 to what Yaesu recommended as a global setting for 70cm receive gain, as mine was quite a bit below that but that didn't seem to help.  

I have looked at past messages to the FT100 list for this problem and found people mention it before, but couldn't find anything as to the cause of it.

Any ideas as to why 70cm receive would be lower than it should be?
