If they are CAP radios then they are probably opened-up or "freeband"
to transmit out of the ham band.
That means you will need to first read from these particular radios,
then edit the memory settings, then write the edited image back.
Apparently there is some sort of code in the image data that
identifies the level of 'widebandedness' of the radio, and writing an
image that was read from one radio, into a radio with different mods,
doesn't work. It's not a matter of the frequencies. It's the
presence/absence of the two jumper resistors in the radio. They need
to be the same between the radio read from, and the radio written to.
If that isn't it, are you using G4HFQ's programming software? He has
a setting that controls the write speed, and you might need to change
it to the slower setting.
