Renee,

There are several programs that support the FT-897.

"CI-V Commander" is a small basic module of the DX Labs package and can be
run standalone. I use it here for testing on my FT-920. It allows Frequency
and mode control. The FT-897 is listed as supported.

"Logger32" is a full featured Logging program complete with MMVARI and MMTTY
digital modes. Both MMTTY and MMVARI use a waterfall display, but the
bandwidth is not wide enough to be used as a full spectrum display. The
program provides full interface with the radio for logging. You can QSY the
radio by just clicking on DX Spots. http://logger32.net/

Both the above programs are freebie. I'm sure there are many other programs
that support the FT-897.
