[Yaesu] Perplexing Problem...

Scott,
     When I checked www.mods.dk I found an article titled, "FT-2400 expanded 
TRX frequency range".   There are  two photos showing the pad locations. 
The explanation tells you which pads to OPEN or CLOSE for expanded frequency 
coverage.  Looking at your radio, maybe you can "reverse engineer" where the 
original pads were set.  Good luck,
