[Yaesu] Still a weird problem..

Ok, as I posted about a while back I still have an old FT-2400H here driving me nuts...

I replaced the memory battery twice just to be sure, I even checked to make sure the keep alive power is at the processor, I can't find the problem.  Here is what it does...

Program all the memories, turn the radio off, unplug it from power, and let it sit for weeks... Works fine and holds its memories.

Program all the memories, disconnect the radio from power, reconnect it to power...  All the memories are gone along with all the settings made.

I wanted to control the radio's power with a relay for APRS use.  I can't get it to hold memories or settings though if the power is disconnected while the radio is on.  And the power switch function on these is such that I can't replace it with a relay either, soft on and off pushbutton.

Any ideas before I get rid of it??
