[Yaesu] HAZARD-Charging LITHIUM battery vs Temperature

It's nice to finally see a post with actual information rather than the
alarmist term "cold." Can you imagine someone out in freezing weather
trying to plug in a charger to charge their laptop! They deserve to have a
failure. <grin>
The batteries in a vehicle likely have different charging/discharging
characteristics than the typical battery being discussed here. I do not
work in the auto industry so have no specifics. However, a friend of mine
does work for one of the big 3 and I could possibly get info if anyone is
interested.

Go to: "batteryspace.com" --click on SAFETY (at the top of page) scroll
down, and READ about charging.--There are other, similar sites!
(OR-IGNORE this, charge the batteries at 20 degrees F, or above 120 degrees
F, and do not complain if you destroy the battery, or produce a fire! As
they say, I have "led the horse to water, but I cannot make him drink"--In
the end, it is YOUR battery, your house, your money-do as you please!
(although many devices have temperature sensing, to PREVENT such abuse, for
reasons of liability)73, KC3VO, Bob Curry

Can someone substantiate these claims with links to reference material?
Preferably no stories about a friend who had one blow up on their kitchen
table or about laptop batteries burning up their truck. :)
