[Yaesu] Charging a new battery for VX5R?

Your battery is not fully charged! 8.4 volts is the correct voltage at full  
charge. Are you charging in normal room temperature, 65 to 85 degrees F  ?   
If the battery is too hot or cold, it will not properly charge,  and 
discharging it below 6.0 volts will shorten its useful life. you probably  have about a 
70% charge at 7.2 volts.Take it down around 6.5  volts and try  again, with
