[Yaesu] VX2-R

Sounds wrong. I have had two VX2-R almost since they first came out and both perform as well as other HTs I have, and have had in the past given their short antennas. We use both regularly - my wife is also licensed - and the only problem we have is that sometimes mine will not turn on until I remove and replace the battery; that is not an uncommon problem and is the only one I am aware of.

I would like to stick around and see if I might be of assistance, but early tomorrow I am leaving for about 4 weeks.

Oh yes, mine also seems quite sensitive on the aviation AM band, comparing it with other receivers I have, again allowing for the short antenna.

  Subject: [Yaesu] VX2-R

  Hello all......
  Question.......
  I have just acquired a Yaesu VX2-R.
I am familiarizing myself with all the functions of this unit.
  I have a VX5-R, VX7-R also.
I have 5 very local repeaters to my qth.
Interestingly, the 5 and the 7 pick up the repeaters DFQ, "solid", full scale !!!!!
The VX2-R is almost "deaf" to these very strong repeaters.
The s-meter does not even go 1/2 s-meter scale as it does on the other two.
Is there a function that attenuates the signal?
Has anyone else seen this? Is it due to the antenna supplied? Is there a serial number series that was prone to this problem?
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
  Tnx!
  Pete
