John....don't sweat it too much...Not too long ago, no rigs had digital
read-outs, and the rules about operating out of the bands have not changed.
In fact...many rigs Heath HW101, Swans etc had 5 kc readout....and
calibrators on some rigs were an option!! Novice set ups sometimes had no
better than 10 or 20 kc accuracy. On your setup, just make sure you set the
dial with the calibrator, and stay a smidge away from the edge....you'll be
fine!! The 301D is a bit finicky....The readout craps out, and the plug-in
boards give problems. If you want a great, reliable, hassle-free, solid
rig....there are MANY others higher on the list!!!
