Hello Yaesu users,

I've recently acquired a FT-1000D which I'm enjoying the use of very much as
I learn daily more and more of its abilities and virtues.

However, there's one thing that's stumping me. I'm using it with two
antennas...a vertical main and a dipole for the sub-vfo B for purposes of
attaining as much space and polarization diversity as I can from an apartment balcony.

My problem is that sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt...I've not
been able to figure out how to get to it without difficulties each time I want
to use this feature.

For example, I set up for 20meter cw. I get to the frequency I want to use
on the main receiver, then hit the dual switch and turn the receiver mix
switch clockwise to engage the sub receiver. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it
doesnt. When it doesn't I can hear the rush of audio from the sub receiver
but no signals. Sometimes, when I press the a>b button all of a sudden
signals appear on the sub receiver. However, at other times they do not.

At times when I change bands, ie. go from 20 up to 17 meters, the main
receiver works fine but when I raise the sub receiver to 17 meters, and press
dual, again, the sub receiver doesn't appear to work other than audio rush.

I'm sure that mine is a "cockpit problem". But I've gone through the
operating manual for a guide as to what to do, but the references are pretty vague.

So...Mayday...Mayday...

Is there anyone out there who can give me a step by step guide as to what
and how to do this. I confess, if it's not already pretty apparent, that I'm a
computer "dumbass". So...I hope that whoever reads this shout into the wind
will be able to "take me by the elbow" and show me what to do to make this
work. In the instances it deigns to work, it's phenomenal.

Many thanks in advance,

Lee, W4EDE
