[Yaesu] HRD-what is the attraction?

It gives me access to multiple functions without having to drill down
through menus on the radio. The only thing that I can't adjust, as far
as I can see, is the squelch on my Yaesu FT-897D and FT-857D. 

I think you can buy and configure a USB-attached tuning knob.
