    Stay away from those crappy heil mics as they are notorious to give you that bad transmit audio with what appears to be rf feed back . What I would suggest is that you get a shure 444d desk microphone and make sure that the impedance is set to low (600 ohms impedance)  and you'll be very happy with your transmit audio as it will give you excellent communications audio which is what one wants with hf.....not hi fi audio. I use that mic on my ft-1000d with excellent audio reports for a number of years now.

Can anyone recommend a good base mic that will work on the FT-2000?
Have tried several Heil Mic's, and all have distortion problems due to RF 
feedback from the amp.
