I think you guys are probably jumping the gun.

I believe Vertex also make commercial communication products and that is 
what Motorola is probably interested in.

Yaesu is a subsidary of Vertex thus it is yet another company dealing in 
different market (ham radio).
Also, I think some time ago, Motorola supported or recognized ham radio 
in their (our) efforts during hurricane Katrina

Time will tell ....
