[Yaesu] Connecting FT1000D to Drake L4B Amp

Does anyone have some info on implementing this duo. I want to avoid "hotswitching" problems in both the FT1000D as well as any possible issues with my newly acquired Drake L4B.

The FT1000D expects you to operate a slide switch INSIDE the radio to operate an external relay in the amp (stupid place to put switch) but I suspect the switching speed of the Yaesu is much faster than the Drake and therefore I anticipate Hotswitching.

Any help is appreciated.
