[Yaesu] IPO/ATT question

On the FT857D, it seems that you cannot turn on the IPO and the ATT at the
same time, as you could on the FT100D.  Is this correct?  Or am I missing
something in the menus?  Also, is it possible that turning on the ATT
automatically turns on the IPO (turning off the preamp) as the manual says
that the ATT is 10db, but the background noise really seems reduced relative
to turning on the IPO, which itself should be a 5 db drop or so.
