That's also true. I've never seen the "average amateur" actually tighten an
SMA antler but was in charge of a lab fulla techs, few of whom had ever
seen SMAs before they came to work with us. They would, of course, have
problems. They all wanted to "excel", however; and so when the rest of us
encouraged them to use the standard SMA torque wrench, they would. After
awhile, they would develop the sense of how-much-is-tight-enough and
how-much-is-too-tight, and wouldn't have to use the torque wrench any
longer (other than for measurement purposes, where the measurements HAD to
be repeatable).
