  My NC-72B says it puts out 12v at 500 mA. I played with a lab-type
variable power supply with mine once, and I think the battery will charge
up at anything above about 8v. And it can tolerate being plugged into a
charging car's system, which can go as high as almost 15 v, so you should
be okay within those limits. Once you get the radio going, if you press and
hold down the "3" key for a second, the second line of the display will show
you the type of power it's using (LIT for the lithium, DRY for the 2 AA cells,
and EXT for running on outside power.

  Actually, according to the specs, the input voltage can vary from 10 to 16v.

  I don't have one, but you could probably get one of the universal battery
adapter kids from that darned RS place to get you by. Or maybe troll thru
the ol' bay place? :-)
