One of my brothers worked for the US Postal Service in the 1970's, 
mainly unloading "flex-vans" at the PO in Milwaukee, WI. He told me 
*never* to label an item "fragile" because that marked the package for 
"special handling".

USPS may be better now but my shipper of choice has been FedEx for a 
long time.
