I recently purchased a used FT-100D. It is in good physical condition.
All seems to work well except when keying up in AM, very little power is
indicated. VSWR indicates low or satisfactory. External checks with an
analyzer confirm VSWR is good.
When I speak into the mike the RF indicates voice peaks like it is SSB
but not AM. I have not been able to make a contact in AM. I have set
the AM power output to 25 watts as it should be, but I get no indication
of a stable 25 watt carrier as I should when I key the mike..
I see some notes on the web about accessing another "F" menu for another
AM related setting. Also the instructions for getting to the "F" menu,
by turning the radio on while pushing the "A, B and C" buttons. But no
different menu offering "F" options come up.
Does anyone have any experience or suggestions related to the lack of
key down AM stable carrier and/or the inability to get to the "F" menu?
Your attention and assistance is appreciated.
