I have a 1000D which is a lot older than that and it is still purring along
without problems. If the 1000MP has not been abused I would not think a 7
year old rig would be a problem for you. I do agree that key clicks can be
a problem. You may want to look at W8JI's web site which has a lot of
information about that as well as some good mods to control the clicks.

Hi George,

I understand that that particular rig --- or at least early versions
thereof --- was absolutely notorious for its generation of key clicks when
transmitting on CW...

Apparently Yaesu got an earful from buyers of this radio for the problem, &
a mod was eventually (and unobtrusively!) fitted-in on later versions at the
factory, past some specific serial / run number (breakining-point unknown to
me).

If you're a 100% 'phone man, no problem, but if you like code, better
bone-up on some of the "fixes" for this radio, which are extensively covered
on several web sites.
