Bob,

I would think this radio is worth minimum $350 if it works.

Personally, I'd power it up and make sure its works.  It would probably take
minimum $100 to fix it.  So its your gamble.

Hi Gang,
My neighbor who is giving up ham  radio offered me his almost new in the box

FT-840
Has no CW or AM  filter.
He nor I know what the rig is worth.
I can grab it for $200.00 as  is not powered up and he said it was given to 
him and he used it twice then  split up with the XYL.
Now here where we have antenna restrictions he tossing  the hobby.
Anyone have an idea what the rig is worth?
It looks new out of  the box but when I power it up he may get excited and 
want more.
So as it  stands I can give $200.00 and take a chance or $300 to $350.00 if
I 
power it up  and it works fine.
I notice the final section is the same as the FT 747 GX  but the 840 in much

nicer.
Give the $200.00 and take a  gamble?LOL
